Carencro Comes Up Short [Video]

Do you remember back when the heat index was well into the triple digits? That is when the Carencro Golden Bears started their march toward New Orleans and the LHSAA 5-A football championship. Through the course of the regular season the Bears had only one blemish on their record, a loss to Acadiana's Wreckin' Rams.

Saturday night with it all on the line in the Superdome Carencro came up 7 points short in their quest to be 5-A state champs. West Monroe won the game 20-13 but there is so much more to the story than just the final score. The game was filled with momentum changes and big plays on both sides of the ball. Carencro certainly had their chances recovering two West Monroe fumbles but they were unable to make the Rebels pay big on the scoreboard.

Even though the Bears were down big, they never quit fighting, they never quit trying, they just never quit. That is a true testament to the Coaching staff and the kind of kids that make up the Carencro program. All of us at 97.3 The Dawg are extremely proud of the way you represented our community and your school. Congratulations on a great season!
