Casino Owners Hint At Moving Riverboat Operations On Shore
Earlier this year the Louisiana Legislature passed measures that would allow gaming areas of Louisiana's Riverboat Casinos to be moved on shore. Since the law's passage, there has been speculation over which "boats" will take advantage of the changes in the law.
One of those gaming companies, Eldorado Resorts based out of Reno Nevada, has suggested that they could begin moving one of their properties onshore as early as the middle of next year. Eldorado Resorts operates the Isle of Capri in Lake Charles and the Belle of Baton Rouge in the state's capital city.
In a conference call earlier this month, it was reported that Eldorado Resorts were contemplating opening gaming area on shore as part of the Isle of Capri complex in Lake Charles. If the project is given the greenlight construction on the new gaming area could begin as early as the middle of 2019 with a targeted completion date sometime in 2020.
When asked about moving the Belle of Baton Rouge into the Atrium of the casino complex located along the Mississippi River, a company spokesman suggested that there were no plans in the works at this time.
