A Most Eloquent And Beautiful Explanation Of Christmas [Video]
Every year around this time I hear the debate rage on my TV about whether the phrase "Merry Christmas" is politically correct or not. I think the people that start that debate on TV are just trying to stir the pot.
For some, Merry Christmas is simply a greeting that is used this time of year. For me and probably for a lot of you Christmas has a much deeper meaning and connection in our lives. Several months ago I wrote about Gilligan's Island and my suggestion that maybe there was a deeper meaning to that show. This is different, a lot different.
In a Charlie Brown Christmas, which first aired on December 9, 1965, the plight of the spiritual versus commercial side of the holiday was most beautifully explained. I still get chills when I hear Linus say "Lights Please".
This is the most eloquent explanation of the meaning of Christmas I have ever heard. It ushers in the holiday spirit for me. No matter how you choose to celebrate this time of year I wish you the very best. I hope for you the peace of the season, may it stay with you no matter how stressful the world we live in makes it.
