Cryptic Clue Suggests A ‘Louisiana Favorite’ Festival Will Be Back
(KMDL-FM) For those of you who missed the movie The Bad News Bears, the original one with Walter Matthau, you might not be familiar with "what happens when you assume". If you aren't familiar with how making assumptions can affect your life, then you can watch this clip from the movie.
I should warn you, although the kids in the scene are cute, their language is far from cute and, in fact, might be offensive and certainly not safe for work. We went through all of that to say this. We are going to make an assumption based on evidence that I don't think we were supposed to see yet.

Here in Louisiana, we love festivals, and we are finally getting into our Fall Festival Season around the state. It gets so hot during the summer that festivals and outdoor events from June through mid-August are usually not scheduled. But once we get close to football season, we'll fire up the festival midways and deep fryers all the way through the Christmas season.
Louisiana Fans Welcome News: Popular Beach Front Festival Could Be Returning
However, the festival we are telling you about in this article is not in Louisiana. It's far enough away that most of us would make it an overnight event, or in this festival's case, a weekend event. The festival's location is also in a place that is very popular for Louisiana music lovers during May.
For some of you, this festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, has been known as The Hangout Festival. Last year, the festival pivoted and made the multi-genre festival more country, and renamed the festival as Morgan Wallen's Sand in My Boots Festival.
The business owners in and around Gulf Shores have been strong vocal supporters of the country-themed festival when compared to the more pop-style festival. The city council has actually approved the paperwork, should the festival return. And that has been the big question: Will there be a Hangout Festival or a Sand in My Boots Festival in 2026? The folks at Whiskey Riff (whiskeyriff.com) think they may have found a clue.
If you visit the Merchandise Page for the Sand in My Boots Festival, you will notice there has been an addendum. The page now said "Coming Soon" and "See You in 2026." However, there is no official word from the festival or its organizers that can confirm exactly what those statements mean.
We did notice that the verbiage has since been changed on the "merch page" to say "see you next time." So, maybe this was just an innocent addition to a festival merchandise page, or perhaps we've stumbled onto a clue or two that a fan favorite festival is returning.
Regardless, keep checking back with us for the latest on live music around the Gulf South.
