Coroner Says LSU Student Died from Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound
The death of an LSU student who was reported missing and then later found dead has been ruled a suicide.
East Baton Rouge Coroner William "Beau" Clark says that 21-year-old Michael Nickelotte Jr. died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Nickelotte was last seen at his residence at East Campus Apartments, leaving behind his cell phone, wallet and car keys. Hunters found his body in a wooded area this past Friday and authorities say his death likely occurred not long after his disappearance.
Nickelotte was a senior and a ROTC student with aspirations of being a Marine.
