Popular Costco Treat Recalled – Label Mistake Could Be Deadly
(KMDL-FM) Once again, we are tasked with informing you of a major product recall from a major retailer. And once again, because of a labeling issue, the mistake could be deadly for some consumers. The fact that the genesis of the recall advisory comes from Costco Stores suggests that several thousand consumers could be affected.
As is the case with most recalls that involve labeling issues, the problem stems from an ingredient that is included in the product but not listed, or, in some recent label faux pas, the product was totally mislabeled. In the case of the current Costco conundrum, the issue is more about what's in the product and not listed on the label than an overall mislabeling mistake.
Which Costco Product Has Been Recalled Now?
Of course, the biggest concern with incorrect product labeling is that people with allergies might come in contact with allergens that should have been listed. In many cases, these allergic reactions are mild and an annoyance, but in some cases, the body's reaction to an allergen can cause severe injury or death. That's why the issue is such a big deal.

If you're fortunate enough to go through life without food allergies, then this kind of recall won't be as important to you as it will be for someone who needs medical treatment should they come in contact with an ingredient or substance their body has an issue with.
The Rolling Pin Company sent a notice to Costco consumers earlier this month, informing them that their Dubai Style Chocolate had a label error. That error listed gluten as the allergen when it should have listed wheat.
How Do I Know If I've Purchased a Recalled Product from Costco?
The release was sent to Costco customers whose store purchase records showed a purchase of the Rolling Pin product. The release also included product replacement and refund information.
We should note that this recall has been issued for Dubai Style Chocolate that was sold at Costco Warehouse Stores between May 1, 2025, and August 29, 2025. If you have any of that product in your possession, you're asked to either discard it or make arrangements for a refund or replacement product.
