Most of us still have the ever growing stench of the United States Senate campaign filling up our collective senses to be concerned with the guaranteed stink that will be the Louisiana Governor's race in 2015. It's hard to believe but in less than a year we will have already forgotten about how snarky the Senate race was as we all concentrate our attention on who will be our state's next head disappointment.

I know I sound pessimistic but let's face it - Bobby Jindal did not meet my expectations as Governor. He may have met yours, but for me he's nothing but a fast talking politician that doesn't really seem to care that much about me. Obviously that is my opinion and I welcome hearing yours, so feel free to leave a comment. Believe it or not we can both be right on this issue.

So what do we know about the next Governor's race? We know Jay Dardenne and David Vitter both have said they want the job. So does State Representative John Bel Edwards, he's already announced he is running too.

There are also rumors floating around that Scott Angelle and John Kennedy might seek the state's highest office.  I have had the pleasure of meeting all of these gentlemen and I think they all bring some great things to the table. It's a shame we will spend the better part of a year hearing why each of them isn't qualified to sleep under Ray Nagin's jail cell. Politics just brings out the best in us doesn't it?

With qualification a year out what do the political pundits think about the Louisiana Governor's race? Many suggest that David Vitter might have the edge right now because of name recognition. However Louisiana has been known as a state that will vote along strict party lines so it's possible that Edwards given enough time could become a force to be reckoned with.

The bottom line is this, we've got a year and some change to get to know these candidates and what they stand for. I hope you'll take the time to get to know as much as you can about each of their policies, proposals, and backgrounds. Then when the time comes cast your vote for the candidate that is most inline with your beliefs. The most dangerous opponent any politician can face is an informed electorate.
