(KMDL-FM) Louisiana diners are finicky. They won't admit it, but we are a very picky bunch when it comes to the foods that we will eat and enjoy. Sure, we eat things out of ditches, like crawfish. Sure, we eat bottom dwellers like catfish. Sure have been known to cook down every part of the hog to make something good. It's what you do in Louisiana.

But we also like a lot of the meals that the rest of the country likes, too. And that's why folks in Slidell, Covington, Sulphur, Shreveport, Lafayette, West Monroe, and Gonzales all know the Cracker Barrel brand. It's good down-home food combined with a flea market and antique store.

Cracker Barrel Confirms Menu Favorites Returning After Seven-Year Hiatus

I would say one of the reasons we love Cracker Barrel is the consistency. The stores all look the same. The golf-tee game is always on the table. Even if it's 110 degrees outside, they have a fire in the fireplace, and the choices on the menu are very consistent.

Which is why when Cracker Barrel shakes up its menu, it makes headlines. We have to read to see if our favorite has been taken away and we also like to see what new ideas they've come up with.

The latest version of the Cracker Barrel menu features some good news, I think, for Louisiana campers. The restaurant has announced the return of their Campfire Meals. Those meals have not been available for guests since 2018.

The Campfire Meals are served in a black iron skillet and come with a great selection of grilled veggies, potatoes, and extras. There is the Campfire Shrimp Skillet that includes andouille sausage. The Campfire Chicken has red onions and grape tomatoes. And the Campfire Beef comes with all the flavors of being cooked over an open flame.

What Are the New Desserts At Cracker Barrel?

The meals were originally introduced in 1997 and have been feature on the menu several times. Their last run was ended in 2018 but they are back now. The new Campfire Meals also include a couple of Campfire Dessert additions, the S'mores brownie skillet and the cinnamon roll skillet.

The meals are available for a limited time, but our friends at Cracker Barrel never said just how long that might be. Now, since you say you visit Cracker Barrel often, how many of these decorations have you seen, and did you know they were mandatory?
