Dangerous ‘Momo Challenge’ Is Something Parents Need To Know About [Video]
The "Momo Challenge" is a dangerous new viral challenge spreading quickly with kids across the globe. This is something all parents need to be very aware of.
The "Momo Challenge" is spreading with kids using the popular messaging app WhatsApp. The challenge encourages children to add a contact into WhatsApp called “Momo.” If they do that, they come face-to-face with a creepy picture of a Japanese sculpture. That's where things can take a dangerous turn.
From wafb.com -
"'Momo' starts to threaten the child, claiming to know personal information and making clear-cut threats.
'This ‘Momo’ thing could say, ‘Well if you don’t do X, then we’ll hurt your sister Sally,’ or something like that' says FOX19 NOW’s Tech Expert Dave Hatter."
Police in Argentina believe "Momo" intimidated and bullied a 12-year-old to the point she committed suicide.
It's important to know that WhatsApp is not affiliated with this in any way. Many people use the app for legitimate reasons.
WhatsApp released a statement saying - “WhatsApp cares deeply about the safety of our users. It’s easy to block any phone number, and we encourage users to report problematic messages to us so we can take action.”
