Dense Fog Today & Tuesday – Colder Weather Coming Later This Week
Visibility at the Lafayette airport was less than three-quarters of mile just before 5 AM this morning. Conditions around Lafayette and Acadiana will fluctuate over the next few hours.
A Dense Fog Advisory has been posted for much of the region until 9 AM. The advisory includes Lafayette, Vermilion, St. Martin, Iberia, and St. Mary parishes. Motorist are advised to allow extra travel time through these areas over the next few hours.
The warm moist weather pattern will likely continue through tonight and Tuesday. That will mean the likelihood of dense fog will again be great tomorrow. The weather pattern is expected to change by midweek.
Forecasters believe a frontal system currently pushing into the Pacific Northwest will make its way through South Louisiana late Wednesday or early Thursday morning. It will bring a threat of showers and thunderstorms, especially late in the day on Wednesday.
By Thursday the frontal system should exit the area and weather conditions should be decidedly cooler and less humid. Temperatures will drop into the upper 40 degree range for Friday and Saturday morning. Meanwhile afternoon temperatures after the frontal passage should be near 70 degrees.
