Our friends at Southern Living always bring a smile to my face, and boy could we use some smiles right now here in Louisiana!

Anyone who has grown up in the south, whether you were born here or not, can relate to the excitement of having your very own birthstone and birth flower. It's one of those personal touches that are so symbolic of being a southerner - I STILL love the pearl necklace that was given to me for my birth month of June. And June roses will always have a special place in my heart too.

In case you didn't know what your birth flower is, we've listed them below.

  • January - Carnation
  • February - Iris
  • March - Daffodil
  • April - Daisy
  • May - Lily of the Valley
  • June - Rose
  • July - Larkspur
  • August - Gladiolus
  • September - Aster
  • October - Marigold
  • November - Chrysanthemum
  • December - Poinsettia
