Dollar General’s Latest Innovation Has Strong Appeal in Louisiana

If I were to ask you how many Dollar General Stores there are in Louisiana, what would be your guess? Yeah, there are a couple in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, and the surrounding communities. Then again, just about every small town has a Dollar General too. Heck, there even seem to be Dollar General Stores on stretches of highway across Louisiana where nobody lives. But yet, there they are.

Their black and yellow sign shines like a golden beacon of savings for the tired and harried shopper who wants nothing more than to save a few bucks while negotiating tightly congested aisles and stepping over items that other customers have left on the floor.

If you were to ask me, I would have to say the thing I like least about shopping at Dollar General is actually having to go to a Dollar General Store. No, I don't like clutter and I don't like confusion. And I hate seeing good people, my DG Employees, working their butts off because they are woefully understaffed.

This is why I believe Dollar General's latest innovation will sweep the nation. Or at least it will sweep to my house because their latest tactical maneuver to stay retail relevant at Dollar General is all about keeping me out of their store.

Yes, Dollar General can deliver. Or I should say is planning on delivering to homes and businesses at all of its stores across the fruited plains. Granted you can get Dollar General purchases delivered via DoorDash right now but the new DG Delivery will offer customers great Dollar General prices and in-home or in-business delivery on the same day.

The company has soft-launched DG Delivery in 75 of its stores but has plans to make the program a nationwide thing. You'll also be able to redeem your coupons and earn cash back in the process and as of now, there is no minimum order requirement or delivery fee listed.

All of the deliveries will be handled through a third-party contractor and the details are still being finalized on if that contractor will be the nationwide partner or if the company will divide delivery among several companies on a regional basis.
