Eat Lafayette: Uncle T’s Oyster Bar
There are so many wonderful things to love about the Acadiana area, and our unique cuisine is definitely at the top of the list. People come from all over the world to enjoy our delicious food, and coupled with our Cajun heritage and culture, it makes us a top-notch tourist destination. And aren't we lucky that we get to experience this on a daily basis?!
The Eat Lafayette campaign is "a yearlong celebration of Lafayette's local restaurants. Diners are treated to deals offered by some of the Eat Lafayette™ restaurants as well as culinary events throughout the campaign. With locally owned eateries ranging from Cajun, Italian, Mediterranean, Asian, BBQ and everything in between you can be sure there's something for everyone's taste buds."
And this year Eat Lafayette has a new Digital Passport, where all you have to do is simply check in when you visit a participating Eat Lafayette 2021 restaurant. By doing so, you'll receive special, Passport exclusive offers from your favorite local restaurants and be entered to win airfare and a three-night getaway to Nashville. The deadline to participate, and get registered for the trip is Sunday, September 12, 2021 at midnight.
I was lucky enough to visit one of our premiere seafood restaurants this week for Eat Lafayette. Uncle T's Oyster Bar is located at 1001 St Mary St. in Scott, and is known for their amazing seafood and po-boys. Uncle T's is open Monday - Thursday from 11:00 AM -9:00 PM, and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM. You've probably seen them right by the railroad tracks in Scott.
We had a variety of their delicious menu selections that included: the amazing Zydeco Chicken, which was crispy dark meat boneless chicken drizzled with Zydeco Sauce, the "Holly Beach Slammer", which was charbroiled oysters fixed four different ways, "The Landry" Po-Boy, which included crawfish, shrimp, and Gulf oysters topped with fresh crab meat, the "House Special" salad with grilled shrimp, and an order of perfectly seasoned boiled shrimp. Not only was the food incredible, but the employees were top notch, and the service was fantastic.
So be sure to visit your favorite locally owned restaurant, and register for the trip to Music City USA with your Eat Lafayette Digital Passport check in before Sept 12 at midnight!
