Fatal Three Car Accident on Johnston Street in Lafayette

Lafayette Police were called onto the scene of a three-car accident at 11:10am Sunday morning at the intersection of Johnston Street and Brentwood Boulevard. One person has died in the crash.

According to witnesses, a red Mitsubishi Montero failed to stop at a red light and entered the intersection hitting a Toyota Tundra and then a Nissan Armada causing the Montero to flip.

Investigators pronounced the driver of the Montero dead on the scene.

Three occupants of the other vehicles were transported to local hospitals for treatment. No citations were issued.

As a result of the crash, traffic was diverted from Johnston Street to Congress Street heading towards the Acadiana Mall
