Former Ragin' Cajun Darryl Surgent will wear red again this season. The wide receiver has signed a deal to join the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad, according to multiple reports.

Surgent was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chiefs back in May. After being cut early last week, Surgent's opportunity to make the 53 man roster seemed lost.

However, many players begin their career on the practice squad and work their way onto the regular season roster with hard work.

While Surgent didn't record any statistics this preseason, he's a special talent who showed off his skills for 4 years at Louisiana. As a wide receiver and kickoff/punt returner, Surgent racked up 4,901 All-Purpose yards as a Ragin' Cajun, good for 2nd best in school history.

At 6'0, 195 pounds, he'll look to make an impression on Andy Reid and the Kansas City coaching staff everyday in practice.
