(KMDL-FM) As of just a few days ago, the fanbase of Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns, the football team from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, learned they would be playing in a postseason college football game.

How Many Years in a Row Have Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns Made a Bowl Game?

The news was not strange to the Cajun faithful; the Ragin' Cajuns have been invited to postseason bowl games for the past eight consecutive seasons. Bowl games for the Cajuns have included the New Orleans Bowl, seven times in program history, plus the Independence Bowl, the First Responder Bowl, the Lending Tree Bowl, the Cure Bowl, and, most recently, the New Mexico Bowl, where they fell to TCU.

This year, the Cajuns' postseason plans have them traveling back to Mobile for their bowl game. The Cajuns haven't played in a bowl game in Mobile since the 2019 Lending Tree Bowl. Lending Tree was the sponsor back then. For the 2025 edition of the Mobile Alabama-hosted bowl game, the sponsor will be 68 Ventures.

I am sure for a lot of you, the question of "who or what is 68 Ventures" has come to mind. I know it was a question we had. So, what is 68 Ventures?

According to the company website, they are "Moving the Gulf Coast Forward via developments and investments that are creating a place our kids will want to return to and raise their families".

In the announcement of 68 Ventures signing on as sponsors of the game, the company released this statement:

This bowl game title sponsorship will allow 68 Ventures to shine a spotlight on the Gulf Coast as a region with tremendous business opportunities and a quality-of-life that rivals anywhere

That sounds like the kind of horse we'd all like to hitch our wagon to. The company claims to have developed over 10,000 lots and constructed more than 3,400 homes. They have also played a large part in hundreds of millions of dollars in commercial investments along the Gulf Coast.

When Did The Mobile, Alabama Bowl Game Become the 68 Ventures Bowl?

The company first took over the title sponsorship for the Mobile, Alabama-based bowl game in May of 2023. Lending Tree was the previous sponsor. The first 68 Ventures Bowl was held on December 23, 2023.

The bowl game features teams from the Sun Belt Conference, the Mid-America Conference, or Conference USA. In the case of this year's game, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns represent the Sun Belt, while Delaware represents Conference USA. Delaware has just recently made the transition from FCS to the Football Bowl Subdivision. This will be their first bowl game as an FBS school.

The game will be played on December 17th, 2025. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm. The game will be played at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile. Oddsmakers in Las Vegas have installed Louisiana as a 3 to 3.5-point favorite. The over/under total that has been set for the game is 58 points.
