Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun baseball player Jonathan Lucroy, a catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, was named to the National League All-Star team on Sunday.

The 28-year old Lucroy is making his first All-Star appearance, hitting a .329, with nine home runs, and 44 runs batted in.

That .329 batting average ranks Lucroy second in the National League, behind only Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki (.347), and his batting average and RBI totals ranks first among catchers in Major League Baseball.

A native of Eustis, Florida, Lucroy was drafted by Milwaukee in the 3rd round of the 2007 amateur entry draft, 101st overall, after a stellar three-year career at UL, one in which he set the school record for doubles (54), runs batted in (184), and total bases (414) and hits  (241) in just three seasons.

In five seasons with the Brewers, Lucroy has compiled a .288 career average, with 55 homers, 269 RBI, and 22 stolen bases.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Lucroy was named as a back-up to St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.

The 2014 Major League Baseball All-Star game is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
