The official start of Spring is Saturday, March 20 this year. And even though there's still a chill in the air, which is very unusual for us in south Louisiana at this time of year, we are still ready to get outside and enjoy our beautiful state this weekend.

Our wonderful Louisiana Department of Tourism always has great resources for whatever it is you want to experience in our state, and they have a fun list of things going on this weekend. I've added in a few of my own favorites as well, so get out and enjoy yourself this weekend, fellow Louisianians.

  • Exit 11 Yard Sale, Saturday, March 20, Grand Coteau 7:00 am - 4:00 pm . This will be a mini version of the semi-annual event in St Landry parish. Normally the yard sale takes place in the historic towns of Sunset and Grand Coteau, but this year it will only be held in Grand Coteau. Hundreds of vendors and local businesses will participate. Super fun
  • Shadows-on-the-Teche Plein Air Competition. through March 19, New Iberia. Plein air painters will be outdoors in the Shadows-on-the-Teche gardens and along Main Street. There will also be a Free paint-out, art exhibit, awards ceremony, and silent auction
  • Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market, Saturday, March 20, 8 am-12 pm. 2913 Johnston Street at Moncus Park. Local vendors and a stellar cajun music jam during the market make this one of the most unique weekly events in Acadiana. Just go.
  • St Joseph's Day celebration Saturday, March 20 at Nor-Joe's Importing Company, Metairie. From 11:00 am - 4:00 pm enjoy delicious traditional Italian food and music, and have your picture taken with the Italian American Society's St Joseph Day Alter float. A true New Orleans observance of the beloved St Joseph alters seen around the area at this time of year.

I Can't Wait To Go To These Festivals Again
