Fun Things to do in Louisiana This Weekend
Well, we can finally say "Merry Christmas!" Many of us have been cooped up for months due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This puts us in a pretty unusual position because us Louisiana folks like to get out and about at this time of year. If you feel like busting out for some adventure, safely of course, then the folks at our Louisiana Tourism Department have some amazing suggestions for you this weekend, December 4-6. If a stay-cation is your thing, then check out some of the fun events below across Louisiana. I'm adding in a few of my own, and updating if I see more merry things scheduled.
- Holiday Arts Market, New Orleans. December 5 and 6. This two-day event was re-scheduled from last weekend. This is their biggest market of the year, and you can find unique local and regional arts and crafts at the new location in City Park. Definitely worth the drive, and one of my favorite holiday events to get handmade gifts.
- Noel Acadien au Village, Lafayette. December 4-23. This beloved annual event kicks off Friday, and is a fundraiser for LARC's amazing work with developmentally disabled citizens. Kids of all ages love the twinkling light displays, carnival rides, and live entertainment each night. A true winter wonderland.
- Christmas in the Country, St. Francisville. December 4-6. A live nativity drive-thru, arts and crafts festival with over 50 vendors in Parker Park, and the tour of historic homes make this a uniquely Louisiana holiday event. If you haven't been to St Francisville in awhile, this is the weekend to go.
- Natchitoches Christmas Festival. November 21-January 2. This is the 94th year for this beloved annual holiday event, held along the banks of the beautiful Cane River
