Yet another guaranteed good time in Acadiana has had to be canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Organizers of the annual Germanfest celebration in Robert's Cove announced that this year's celebration would not go on as planned.

A press release from the festival's executive committee explained the reasons for the decision.

This year's event, the 26th annual, had been planned for October 2nd and 3rd. The annual event celebrates the German culture and its Louisiana descendants with two days of authentic German music, folk dancing, and traditional foods.

Organizers felt that with health and safety concerns still very much up in the air the most prudent and best choice was to cancel the event for this year. However, organizers say they plan to be back next October.
