Red Beans and Rice on Monday has been a staple in our area for many, many years, and now Governor John Bel Edwards is making it official.

Governor Edwards has proclaimed Monday (of course), October 24th, 2022 "Red Beans and Rice Day", and he is doing it for a great reason.

KLFY TV10 is reporting that Governor Edwards made the proclamation earlier today to promote the Louisiana tradition.

The timing of the proclamation is perfect, if not calculated.

Cajun Country Rice and Camellia Beans work well together in a bowl and they work well together in the community, as they are teaming up to help families across the state suffering from food insecurity.

Second Harvest Food Bank will be receiving donations from the companies to help families across Louisiana find their next meals, with the goal of bringing meals to 100,000 households across the state.
