Gravy Steps Into the Space Left Behind by Pat's Downtown

Gravy, a new Southern comfort restaurant, opened Monday, April 13 at 107 E. Main Street in the former home of Pat's Downtown, a lunch institution that closed in January after more than 30 years in business. Pat's owner Patrick Dupuis announced his retirement at the time, saying the beloved spot had been "more than just a restaurant; it's been a home."

What's on the Menu at Gravy in Downtown Lafayette

Describing itself as "comfort food done right," Gravy's menu leans into Southern and Cajun staples — think fried shrimp, fried catfish, and beef debris over rice — while also offering lighter fare such as a Greek wrap and an Asian-inspired salad with sesame ginger vinaigrette. In a nod to its casual, home-style concept, all dishes are served in to-go boxes whether customers are dining in or taking out. The restaurant offers ample indoor seating as well as a few outdoor patio spots.

When is Gravy Open?

Gravy is open Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

A Cocktail Lounge Is Coming to the Building After Festival International

Looking ahead, the ownership group plans to develop a cocktail lounge in the remaining portion of the building following Festival International.
