Grocery Store Under Fire For Politically Charged Circular
Normally when the circulars for the grocery stores come out every week we don't really bother to read too much of the fine print. Most of the time our eyes are focused on the savings and alleged savings the store has to offer.
However, a recent circular for Mac's Fresh Market in Alexandria drew more than the attention of coupon clippers. The advertising circular included the following statement,
Heaven has a wall, a gate and a strict immigration policy. Hell has open borders. Let that sink in.
While it's not the first time the store's management has included religious and even political messages in its circulars, this one appears to have struck a chord with many people in the area.
As you might imagine there were those who supported the store's management and their statement. While others were calling for a boycott of the store. The store's owner, Reggy McDaniel told KALB TV in Alexandria.
I thought it was a perfect time because everybody is talking about the border, some people want it, some don't want us to have one. The only thing I was shocked about was that it's racist. I have never in my life been accused of being a racist, I’m 70 years old I haven't evolved into one.
McDaniel went on to say that he intends to continue the practice of putting messages in his store's circulars.
