Vermilionville has long been a crown jewel of Lafayette and a bridge to the past of our Cajun and Creole heritage. The heritage and folklike park is a picturesque representation of a village from a time period of 1765 to 1890.

Now for the holidays, we can all get a feel for how Christmas was celebrated during that time period. Starting Tuesday, December 13 and running through Friday, December 16, Vermilionville is presenting an Old-Time Christmas. There will be tours, explanation of traditions, caroling and much more.

You can even meet Papa Noël and Mama Noël and perhaps hear a reading The Cajun Night Before Christmas!

Vermilionville is located at 300 Fisher Road in Lafayette. For more information, you can call them up at 337-233-4077 or check them out online at www.bayouvermilion.org.
