Homeowners in St. Landry Parish will have the chance to clean out their garages, storage rooms, and sheds this weekend. The Parish Solid Waste Disposal District has announced plans to hold its annual Hazardous Waste Disposal Day this Saturday.

Among the items that will be accepted for disposal at the event on Saturday are paints, automobile batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, household cleaners, household chemicals, pesticides, flammables, corrosives, medications, tires (limit five per vehicle), fluorescent tubes and bulbs, other hazardous household products, electronic waste (computers, monitors, printers, scanners, etc.), cell phones and cell phone batteries.

The items that are prohibited from disposal at this event include infectious and, medical wastes, biological and radioactive materials, compressed gas, cylinders, ammunition, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and explosives.

The disposal event will be held this Saturday at the St. Landry Parish recycling centers in Opelousas and Eunice. If you have questions you may call 337-942-9576 or 337-457-1336. Please note this event is open to St. Landry Parish residents only. Proof of residency will be required.
