Let's take apple pie to the next level! Your family, friends, and coworkers will love you if you make this amazing, apple pie recipe for the next Pie-Day Friday. Oh, and your house will smell amazing.

Normally, I am not a huge pie fan, but apple pie is just an American staple. I have to give props to Pillsbury for the pie recipe, and their creative way to kick things up a notch. What's better on apple pie than a caramel and pecan sauce? Nothing!

You will need:

1 box Pillsbury refrigerated pie crusts (feel free to make your crust the homemade way)
6 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples (6 medium)
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1/3 cup caramel ice cream topping
4 Tbsp chopped pecans

First, preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Place 1 pie crust in an ungreased 9-inch pie pan. Press firmly against the sides and bottom. Next, mix all ingredients in a large bowl and spoon the filling into the crust-lined pie pan. Top with second crust and pinch bottom and top crust sides together. Trim off any excess hanging crust.

Cut slits into the top crust to allow ventilation. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top crust is perfectly golden. Once you take the pie out of the oven, drizzle with the caramel topping and sprinkle with the chopped pecans. Cool for at least 2 hours before serving. Mmm... you will love it!
