When it comes to being "Cajun" there are two types of people in Louisiana and southeast Texas. There are those that by birth, are born Cajun. Then there are the rest of us "That want to be Cajun". The good news is almost everyone is welcome in the "Cajun club". While it's true being Cajun is an actual thing, those who are official Cajuns don't mind welcoming those of us who aren't "official" into the club.

One of the unique aspects of living in the Cajun culture is understanding the world around you. That's the Cajun way. We are at one with our environment. We look for ways to let nature help us and when we can't find that path, we look to find ways to help nature.

There is a unique symbiotic relationship between the South Louisiana way of life and the way of life that living along and near the Bayous and the Gulf of Mexico requires. Sometimes that way of life requires us to invent things. Sometimes that way of life requires us to give things names. Sometimes that way of life simply requires that you pay attention.
