We all know there are dog people and then there are cat people. Statistics show that America sure is in love with their pets -- 56% of Americans have one!

But have you ever thought about what parts of the country are more pro cat or pro dog? A look at the pet population data from the American Veterinary Medical Association shows some interesting stats.

Roughly speaking, the northern states love their cats and as you cross the Mason-Dixon line, we are more amicable to our pooches.

As you probably already knew, yep, Louisiana is much more of a dog state. Actually, we rank as the #5 top dog state. (This is in proportion to our cat population.)

For the record, I love cats and dogs equally. We had cats growing up and now my family has a dog who acts like a cat.
