I love this time of year because it's Japanese Plum season!

Japanese Plums, or Loquats, are delicious, whether they are made into preserves, jam, jelly, or eaten right off of the tree.

The other part of the tree that many people overlook is the leaves. Japanese Plum leaves, when prepared properly, make for a very tasty tea.

The leaves need to be washed and the underside scraped before boiling for tea. Here's how it's done:

The leaves can be used for tea at any time of the year that the tree still has leaves but, right now, the race is on to pick enough plums to make preserves.  Maybe I'll have a video of that process later.
