SHREVEPORT, LA - New numbers on crime have been released and Louisiana has 2 of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. on the top 10 list. You might be surprised by which cities in the Bayou State land on this list.

At the top of the ten most dangerous cities list for 2023 is Bessemer, Alabama.

The research by Security Gauge says the small suburb of Birmingham has the highest rate of crime, per capita.

What Louisiana Cities Make this List?

Monroe in northeast Louisiana was number 1 on this list for the past two years, but has fallen to #2 on the list for 2023. The report says you have a one in 38 chance of becoming a victim of violent crime in Monroe. The city is also noted as having one of the highest murder rates in the United States.

Alexandria, Louisiana checks in at #9 on the list this year. You have a one in 58 chance of being a victim of a violent crime in Alexandria.
