
Breaux Bridge Man Arrested after Schools Were Forced to Be on Lockdown
(KPEL News) - The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office was able to arrest a man who they alleged had made threats against an estranged girlfriend's home and her child, which prompted schools in the Cecilia area to be put on lockdown.

Just before 9 o'clock Wednesday morning, a woman called for help after her estranged boyfriend allegedly made threats to damage her home. Deputies proceeded to the 1000 block of Will Angelle Road.
Cecilia-Area Schools Were on Lockdown Following a Man's Threat
As the situation was playing out, the woman also explained to the 911 dispatcher that her estranged boyfriend was also allegedly threatening to harm her child, who was at school in the Cecilia area.
Deputies immediately responded to the child's school, and out of an abundance of caution, they put schools in the Cecilia area on lockdown while they were searching for the suspect.
St. Martin Deputies Arrest Man Who Allegedly Threatened a Child
Not long after the information came in, additional St. Martin Parish Sheriff's deputies who were headed to the school say the 33-year-old suspect was driving down Anse Broussard Highway.
Deputies were able to pull over and arrest 33-year-old Anthony Potier of Breaux Bridge in connection with the allegations, who was accused of making.
Potier was arrested on the following charges:
LA R.S. 14:40.1 Terrorizing (Felony)
LA R.S. 14:37 Aggravated Assault (Felony)
LA R.S. 14:40.6 Unlawful Disruption of the Operation of a School (Felony)
LA R.S. 14:285 Unlawful Communications
Potier did not do any damage to the woman's home and obviously never made it to the school.
