Louisiana Wendy’s to Test Dynamic Pricing in 2025
Beginning in 2025, Wendy's is planning to begin testing new "Dynamic Pricing" across the U.S., including Louisiana.
At first blush, it sounds like Wendy's will be charging more for their food during busier times of the day like breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but the company says that's not what they have in mind.
Wendy's is famous for its square-shaped hamburgers, fresh ingredients, and signature Frosty desserts.
Founded by Dave Thomas in Columbus, Ohio, on November 15, 1969, Wendy’s has grown into one of the largest fast-food chains globally, with thousands of locations worldwide.
According to wendys.com, there are currently 125 Wendy's locations across Louisiana.
Wendy's is also adored for their Social Media accounts. Wendy’s Twitter account is famous for its witty and often humorous interactions, especially roasting other brands and fans.
Wendy's Surge Pricing Controversy
Wendy's caught some major backlash earlier this year when customers heard news about the fast food chain implementing "Surge Pricing", but Wendy's now says they have no intention of doing this.
From CBSNews.com -
"Economists call in dynamic or surge pricing, and Wendy's CEO Kirk Tanner has just announced his fast-food chain wants to adjust food prices throughout the day.
'Beginning as early as 2025, we will begin testing more enhanced features like dynamic pricing and day-part offerings along with ai-enabled menu changes and suggestive selling,' said Tanner."
Wendy's Dynamic Pricing
Wendy's has repeatedly denied that they plan to use "Surge Pricing" to charge more during more busier hours, but they do have plans to begin testing "Dynamic Pricing" beginning 2025.
The company says that "Dynamic Pricing" is something completely different.
Wendy's claims that "Dynamic Pricing" will actually be a benefit to customers, not an attempt to charge more during peak times.
From theweek.com -
"Instead of dynamic pricing causing a price increase during busy periods, it will be implemented in a way that will 'allow us to change the menu offerings at different times of day and offer discounts and value offers to our customers' during slow periods, Wendy's said."
So, instead of charging more during peak hours, like Uber, Hotels, airlines, etc, Wendy's is testing "Dynamic Pricing" to hopes of bringing in more business during times that are traditionally slower.
And, the best part is, the prices during these slower times will, in theory, save you money, not cost you more.
