Firetruck Stolen in Louisiana, Found Stuck in Mud

Why would someone want to steal a firetruck is beyond me, but it happened in a small Louisiana town, and now authorities are looking for the culprit.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office reports that a firetruck was stolen from a Natchitoches Parish fire station and, later, was found stuck in the mud.

Before we go too far, let me put the proper image into your head - this wasn't one of the "big" fire engines, this was what is called a "brush truck" firetruck.

This firetruck is actually a Ford F350 with a custom bed, the size making it more capable of traversing fire lanes and smaller roads in the hills and forests of Central Louisiana.

The truck was stolen from the Natchitoches Parish Fire District #10 on Louisiana Highway 485 in Powhatan, Louisiana.

The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office is commending the community for sharing its post about the stolen vehicle and, they say, within 2 hours of posting, a tip was sent in that led to finding the truck.

The truck was located around 10 miles from where it was initially stolen.

According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, the vehicle was located about 200 yards off of Louisiana Highway 3191 near Natchitoches, stuck in mud behind an old abandoned home.

The vehicle appeared to not be damaged, save for the need for a thorough cleaning due to having been driven through the mud.

The investigation continues to try to find the person or persons who stole the vehicle and left it abandoned in the muck.
