
3 Injured in Shooting; Suspect Apprehended Following Crash Near Cade Community Center
CADE, La. – Authorities in St. Martin Parish are investigating a late-night shooting that left three people injured and ended with a vehicle crash involving the suspect just outside the Cade Community Center.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, in the 1600 block of Smede Highway. According to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, three victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to local hospitals. Their conditions have not been made public at this time.
Following the shooting, the suspected gunman attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle but crashed shortly afterward. Deputies quickly apprehended the suspect, who was also transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. His identity has not yet been released, and the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
Though law enforcement has not officially confirmed a connection, community members noted a heavy police presence Saturday night near the Cade Community Center—just down the road from the reported shooting location. Eyewitnesses on social media reported a crash and increased activity involving multiple law enforcement agencies outside the center around the same time of the incident.
As of Sunday morning, authorities are continuing their investigation and have stated that more information will be released as it becomes available.
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to the shooting or the events leading up to the crash to come forward.
