That being said, it seems like maybe not everyone in Louisiana is as happy as it seems.

According to a new survey, Louisiana ranks dead last on the list of "Most Happiest States In America", and here's why...

What Makes A State Happy?

When you think about what makes people in a state happy, it’s really a mix of things that make life easier, more enjoyable, and less stressful.

It’s not just one factor but a combination of aspects that contribute to the overall well-being of the people living there.

Factors that contribute to a State's happiness include things like economic stability, health and general well-being, a good work-life balance, education, a strong sense of belonging, safety, access to nature, and more.

Is Louisiana really doing that poorly with all of these factors?

If this new report is to be believed, not only are we doing poorly in the areas, we're doing the worst job in America.

The folks over at wallethub.com took a look at over 30 key metrics to determine what states were the happiest in America.

In addition to the factors mentioned above, wallethub.com also included this like the cost-of-living, the stress of this being an election year, income growth, the unemployment rate, and many more.

1. Hawaii - Total Score of 68.71

2. Maryland - Total Score of 64.67

3. New Jersey - Total of 64.26

4. Utah - Total Score of 62.20

5. Delaware - Total Score of 60.43

Louisiana Ranked As 'Unhappiest State in America'

According to wallethub.com, Louisiana lands at number 50 on the list of "Most Happiest States In America".

By 50 we mean dead last...at the very bottom.

Louisiana earned a total score of 32.97.

We scored a 49 in "Emotional Wellness and Well-Being", a 49 in "Work Environment", and a 40 in "Community and Environment".
