According to the Jeanerette Police Facebook Page, the department made a huge gun and narcotics bust last night.

At around 10 PM last night, officers with the department were called to the 400 block of Lovett Street in Jeanerette after a "shots fired" report. When officers arrived on the scene, they found 2 individuals in need of medical attention.

One of the individuals, according to the story, had been shot several times. The other individual was suffering from shrapnel injuries.

As the investigation continued, Jeanerette Police obtained a search warrant at the residence and, after the search was completed, several weapons, narcotics, and cash had been discovered and confiscated.

Jeanerette Police say that more arrests are pending.

As you can see in the photo above, there were at least 14 weapons seized in the case, with a stack of cash and loads of (what appear to be) narcotics.

Also seized were at least 10 high-capacity magazines and several rounds of ammunition.

Kudos to the officers of the Jeanerette Police Department for getting the guns and the drugs off of the streets, not to mention the two arrests made (innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, of course).

The Chief of Police in Jeanerette, Dusty Vallot, acknowledged that the Jeanerette Police Department couldn't do what they do without the help of other agencies:

We would like to thank Jeanerette Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance, St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office, Baldwin Police Department and Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office for their assistance in this matter. - Dusty Vallot, Chief of Police

Big thanks to everyone involved in helping keep the streets of Acadiana safer!
