The dangers of gathering in large crowds during the coronavirus pandemic have been thoroughly explained. Exposure to those who may have been exposed to the disease is how it spreads. It can spread quickly through large groups and gatherings. Hence, Louisiana's Governor has banned gatherings of more than 10 people in the state.

Therefore when word got out that there were church services in which more than 10  people were gathering being held at a Jeanerette church Iberia Parish leaders respectfully took action. According to reports, a cease and desist letter was issued to Pastor Wesley Jackson of Calvary Pentecostal Church in Jeanerette last night.

The letter strongly urged Pastor Jackson to stop violating the state ban on large gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic. When deputies delivered the letter last night during services at the church, there were about 50 people in attendance.

So far, we have not been made aware of any response to the letter from Pastor Jackson and the congregation of the church.
