Kaplan Man Charged After Shooting into Neighbor’s Yard
Law enforcement agents in Vermilion Parish and in the city of Kaplan have taken a Kaplan man into custody following an incident that took place on Saturday. Police in Kaplan say Breon Broussard allegedly fired shots from an AR-15 rifle into his neighbor's yard on Saturday, striking the neighbor's vehicle.
According to a story on the KATC website police were called to the 200 block of North Boudreaux Avenue in response to a "shots fired" complaint. Before police arrived on the scene Broussard and his family fled the scene. Broussard was later taken into custody just outside the city limits of Kaplan west of Highway 13.
Broussard is now facing the following charges in connection with the incident.
Attempted Second Degree Murder
Aggravated Flight from an Officer
Terrorizing
Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
Illegal Discharge of a Firearm
Speeding
Reckless Operation of a Vehicle
Stop Sign Violations
Kaplan Police and Vermilion Parish Sheriff's deputies are continuing their investigation. As of now, it has not been disclosed what started the incident of why Broussard was allegedly discharging a weapon in the direction of his neighbor's home.
