Students across the country plan to walkout of their school on March 14, 2018, to protest violence in schools.

Now, the Lafayette Parish School System is addressing the planned walkout. According to a Facebook post, the board will allow students to participate in the peaceful "protest."

Those who wish to participate in the 17-minute protest in Lafayette Parish will NOT be disciplined for leaving the classroom.

According to the LPSS posts, "The walkout supports the position that change is necessary in order to provide a school setting that is free from the fear of being harmed at school."

The protest comes after 17 students and teachers were killed in a Florida school last month after a former student allegedly brought a gun on campus.

We ask, will you allow your child to take part in this protest? Let us know what you think about this in the comment section below.
