Two Lafayette Police officers were injured yesterday while trying to apprehend a suspect. According to reports, the officers were attempting to remove suspect Francois Scricca Jr from the vehicle when he put the car in reverse and dragged the officers' several feet.

The suspect then fled the scene crashing into at least two police units. He was later apprehended a few blocks away on West 2nd Street. Scricca was arrested and taken into custody at the scene.

He is now facing charges including 2 counts of battery of a police officer, flight from an officer, resisting an officer with force, OWI, no drivers license and 3 separate bench warrants.

A spokesperson for Lafayette Police indicated that the officers were transported to local hospitals where their condition was unknown at this time. However, that same spokesperson suggested that both officers, who have not been identified to the media, should be able to return to work soon.
