Lafayette's weather will take a turn to the cool side this weekend. A cold front expected to enter the area on Saturday will kick up showers and thunderstorms. According to the Storms Prediction Center, there will be a slight chance for some of those storms to reach severe limits.

Rainfall accumulation is not expected to be significant but a heavy downpour over a short period of time might cause some ponding  of water on roadways that are slow to drain. Allergy sufferers will be pleased to know that the rainfall will give the atmosphere a good rinsing and help settled some of the dust. However a gusty breeze will stir up some rather high pollen counts over the next few days.

Much cooler temperatures are in the forecast for Sunday as the system exits the area. Temperatures will be near 60 degrees on Sunday morning and should warm to 68 by late afternoon. The day will feel much cooler as a gusty north wind moves across the area. Wind advisories might need to be posted for gust in excess of 20 mph on Sunday afternoon.

Temperatures on Monday will begin in the low 40's with Monday's high temperature expected to only reach 59.
