The threat of heavy rain, high winds, and some severe weather materialized in the overnight hours across South Louisiana. A vigorous upper level low pressure system moved across Texas during the day Saturday and into Acadiana around midnight. This system has been responsible for the heavy showers and thundershowers much of the area has experienced the  past few hours.

The good news is  most of the Saturday's planned activities were not interrupted by the weather. The other good news is that once the system  pushes out of the area later this morning we can expect a mix of clouds and sun along with moderate temperatures throughout much of the holiday week.

The KATC Weather Team is forecasting cool temperatures with a few clouds for Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday skies should become mostly sunny. Thanksgiving Day should find most of Acadiana bathed in sunshine with afternoon temperatures in the  upper 60's. This should bode well for families that enjoy cooking outdoors or have gathering so large they need to use the back yard.

Travelers across the area should not expect weather to be an issue over the next week either. Road conditions across the Gulf South should remain dry. Air travelers should not expect any major issues on any of the hubs that are served by Lafayette Regional. Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston have no major weather issues noted in their long range forecasts either.
