The thunderstorms that forecasters had been telling us about finally moved through Acadiana late in the day on Sunday. The good news is most of the heavy weather is moving off to the east and calmer conditions will greet you this morning.

The current radar scan at 3am shows that a line of heavy to severe thunderstorms has pushed to the east of most of Acadiana. A flash flood watch will remain in effect through the early morning hours as residual runoff from these storms slowly drains away.  A Tornado Watch is still posted for Iberia, St. Martin and St. Mary Parishes until 6am. Heavy thunderstorms pushing on shore from the Gulf of Mexico will keep these areas under the gun for at least two more hours.

The forecast for today will bring slightly cooler temperatures to the area and there will still be a small threat of a passing shower. That chance of rain will stay in the area through Tuesday when another system passes through. The rest of the work week into the coming weekend appears to be mostly sunny and warm.
