Like the lingering scent of a lover's perfume, like the gentle touch of her hand on the back of yours, like a soft sweet kiss on the nape of your neck, autumn stopped by for a visit last weekend and then promptly left. Leaving us just like the hopeless romantic, quite hot and bothered.

That brief touch of fall has left many of us in Acadiana longing for a cool crisp morning. Of course, the only way we can achieve that is by reaching for the thermostat to turn the air conditioner down a few more degrees.

The bottom line is this, Summer is not going away gracefully.

According to Dave Baker at KATC TV 3 we can expect it to feel more like June than October over the next few days. The afternoon temperatures will approach 90 degrees, and there will be enough humidity to make it feel even warmer than that. You will also need to add a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm to your plans for the next several days.

The long range outlook does show a bit of a cool down coming by the middle of next week. This will be after what could be a significant storm threat Monday and Tuesday. A cold front is expected to push through the area, and that combination of cold dry air slamming into moist unstable air could light up the  sky with thunder and lightning.

By Wednesday of next week, we could be feeling quite a bit cooler. Dave's long range outlook suggests that by Wednesday morning, temperatures in Acadiana could be in the upper 50s with daytime high temperatures barely making it to 80.
