PRESS RELEASE

Laguna Seca, CA- Sarah Montgomery and Sick Sideways Racing continue their history-making run with second-place finishes in each of the last two rounds in the ND1 Battery Tender® Global Mazda MX-5 Cup Series Presented by BFGoodrich Tires® at beautiful WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

Both races were completed last Saturday of the NDT INDYCAR weekend and provided fans with the most competitive, exciting racing of the day. In the ND1 class of the first event, Sarah, last year's champion Nathanial Sparks and Hernan Palermo swapped places multiple times. John Dean II took advantage of the battle and finished first, as Sarah drove a flawless race and pulled ahead of her pack to finish second. In the second race, a collision at the start caused an ill-handling car for her but didn’t slow her down. John Dean II finished first again with Sarah finishing second.

“I am so fortunate to be part of the Sick Sideways team and to have my whole family here supporting me. It’s been a great weekend and actually, a great year for me. I’ve had new partners including TeamOne Logistics, Shift Up Now, Roth Cheese, Harrison Contracting Co. and My Legal Edge along with my longtime partners like Lafayette Travel help get me here and I’m so proud to be representing them. Finishing on the podium the last four races of the year against some of the finest competition there is, making history for the series and all of the hard work has been worth it. It’s been fantastic,” says Montgomery.

Team Sick Sideways finished the year with an incredible total of 18 wins and 41 podiums, deservedly winning the Team of the Year award. Montgomery finished the year fourth in the points total with John Dean II, Hernan Palermo and Nathanial Sparks in the top three.

“Next year is wide open for me as I think I’ve shown what I can do against some of the best. This Global Mazda MX-5 series is some of the most competitive, door banging, skill-driven racing there is and I’m on the podium so I’m hoping it helps me for my future,” Montgomery adds. “Of course funding is always the issue for me as this year wouldn’t have even happened without the help of John Dean II and Sick Sideways or my other partners, but I think next year will be a good one.”
