The race for United States Senate in Louisiana continues to be a very close one. The latest poll research indicates that voters of Louisiana might have to wait until late in the day Tuesday November 4th to see who the United States Senator will be.

The latest Rasmussen Survey that polled 800 likely Louisiana voters shows challenger Bill Cassidy now with a slight lead over incumbent Mary Landrieu.  The numbers showed 44% of likely voters were leaning toward Cassidy and 41% of voters were in the Landrieu camp. The missing 9% of voters not accounted for by either Cassidy or Landrieu said they planned to vote for someone other than the candidates that were mentioned by name.

One political analyst, Robert Hogan, a political science professor at LSU suggests the results aren't necessarily a desire to support Cassidy but reflect more of a dissatisfaction with Landrieu.

"For an incumbent to be in a highly competitive campaign and be in the low 40s is certainly a dangerous sign for her,"

Hogans comments were reported in a story by the Louisiana Radio Network.

With 8 weeks of campaign time left you can bet the poll numbers for both candidates will go up and down. There will also be millions of dollars spent in advertising between the two candidates as well. My prediction is that by November 4th most Louisiana voters will be so sick of both candidates that we will simply be glad to see the election over.
