Product innovations are nothing new in the fast-changing world of snack foods. Ask the folks at Zapp's Chips out of Gramercy, Louisiana. They have taken their unique style of potato chips and added a myriad of flavors that have people from Lake Charles to Shreveport and Lafayette to Tallulah fighting about which "flavor" is the best. But this story isn't about potato chips.

It would be easy to understand a new "flavor" in potato chips. This is about M&M chocolate candies. You know the candy brand whose spokesnacks encourage you to eat their family members? No, that's not gross that's reality. When you have two candies telling people to eat other candies of the same species it's strange. Why do you think Chick-fil-A uses cows instead of chickens to sell chicken sandwiches?

Back to the M&Ms, if I were to ask you "What is the flavor of an M&M candy" you'd probably reply chocolate. If you opted for the peanut version you might say chocolate again because the peanut is more of a texture ingredient and less about flavor.

What Is The New Flavor of M&Ms?

According to the Instagram food influencer @snackbetch the company is set to debut a different taste for lovers of the candies that melt in your mouth and not in your hands.

As you can see it's supposed to be a treat for the upcoming holiday season. It's Toasty Holiday Peanut flavor and it's supposed to be more than just a regular peanut M&M. Which as we discussed earlier uses the peanut for crunch and the chocolate for flavor.

What Does the New M&M Flavor Taste Like?

According to reports, namely from Eat This, Not That, the new M&M flavor will boast hints of cinnamon, vanilla, spiced sugar, and caramel. All of that will be packed in a crunch candy shell so you won't soil your stockings when consuming them.

As of now, the new flavor is not on retail shelves but a quick scan of Walmart online revealed the candy was available for purchase there. New "flavors" for the holidays are not a new thing for the candy brand. Earlier this year they released a new pumpkin-inspired flavor for the "Spooky Season". I haven't tried it, maybe you have.

Will I try this new flavor? Probably. I am sure it will be making the rounds at office parties and social gatherings as we near the official holiday season. Which begins for most regular people the week of Thanksgiving but if you're in retail, you know the Christmas stuff is already in the stock room waiting for Halloween to be over.
