Louisiana Ranks Among the Best States for Swingers

LOUISIANA - If you thought Louisiana might rank near the very top of a new list of the best states for swingers, you're not alone.

After all, Louisiana is well known for having a pretty open-minded approach to nightlife, entertainment and, well, enjoying life. Just being home to New Orleans puts Louisiana on the radar for places where people live out loud.

A recent study was released by LoveHoney.com listing "The Best States For Swingers" and, where Louisiana lands on the list might surprise you. Actually, some of the states ahead of Louisiana might surprise you as well.

Southern States Dominate The Top Of The List

Dominating the top of the list of the best states for swingers is the South.

Does the heat make us sweat out our inhibitions in the south? I don't know, maybe.

A new study from adult retailer LoveHoney looked at all 50 states to determine where the strongest public signs of a swinger-friendly scene could be found.

And the results may surprise you.

The top three states are:

Florida
Texas
Georgia

That's right. The South completely took over the top of the ranking.

Florida landed at No. 1 with an overall score of 62.6 out of 100. Texas followed at 58.1, while Georgia scored 52.8.

Florida also had the largest number of swingers clubs in the study, with 148 listed.

Texas wasn't far behind with 93.

So Where Does Louisiana Rank?

Louisiana came in at No. 13.

That might seem surprisingly low considering New Orleans has long been known for its nightlife, adult entertainment, and anything-goes reputation.

New Orleans, Louisiana also hosts Nawty N'Awlins, which LoveHoney notes is one of the larger events associated with the swinger lifestyle.

The study considered nine different factors, including Google search activity, the number of official swingers clubs, Reddit communities, bars and hotels per capita, and the percentage of married residents.

So a No. 13 ranking doesn't mean Louisiana has fewer swingers than states above it, it just means Louisiana came out with a lower overall score when the factor's scores were combined.

What States Beat Louisiana?

Louisiana's No. 13 ranking puts it behind some states you might expect, and maybe a few you might not.

The top 10 were:

No. 1 — Florida
No. 2 — Texas
No. 3 — Georgia
No. 4 — Nevada
No. 5 — Tennessee
No. 6 — California
No. 7 — Pennsylvania
No. 8 — New York
No. 9 — Ohio
No. 10 — Michigan
