Louisiana Fans Rejoice – Buc-ee’s Confirms I-10 Opening Date

(KMDL-FM) Louisiana fans of the Texas-based travel center Buc-ee's have been given a bit of good news. Not only is there going to be a new location of the popular that's going to make getting Beaver Nuggets and Brisket more convenient. But now we actually know when that opening day is going to be.

It seems as if the universe has been building toward this moment since 1982 near Lake Jackson Texas when Arch "Beaver" Alpin III opened a convenience store. From those very humble beginnings in East Texas (and Louisiana), Buc-ee's has grown to legendary status with locations springing up all over the country.

Up until now, there have not been any Buc-ee's Travel Centers located in Louisiana. But it was announced just a few years ago that a location was being built along I-20 in North Louisiana near Ruston. And just last year came confirmation that there would be an I-10 location of Buc-ee's built near Lafayette. 

When Will Louisiana's First Buc-ee's Open?

The Ruston Buc-ee's is still about a year away from opening and the Lafayette location isn't too far behind in that timetable. But the big news for fans of The Beaver is that Buc-ee's Harrison County, Mississippi location is now hiring and has announced a confirmed date for opening.

Will Buc-ee's Be Open For Summer Travel on I-10?

If your summer travel plans take you eastward out of Louisiana and into Mississippi toward the beaches of Alabama and Florida you will be pleased to learn that the new Harrison County Buc-ee's will officially open its doors on June 9th.

What Buc-ee's Location is Closest To Louisiana?

The new $50 million travel center is located at Ext 24 off of I-10. That puts the store less than a half hour's drive from the Louisiana State line. However, the June 9th opening date means the store will not be in operation for the long Memorial Day Holiday Weekend.

But if you still need Beaver Nuggets, a bathroom, and some brisket don't fret, the Robertsdale, Alabama location of Buc-ee's is open. But I will caution you, the lines to get in and get out have been quite extensive in the past, so plan accordingly if you have to be somewhere by a certain time.
