Louisiana Couple Finds $1.8 Million Lotto Ticket While Cleaning For Thanksgiving
A Louisiana couple found some old Lotto tickets recently while cleaning to get ready for Thanksgiving company. They checked the numbers and found out, one was a winning ticket worth a whopping $1.8 million, and it almost expired!
Harold and Tina Ehrenberg of Mandeville, La tells Louisiana Lottery they found the ticket cleaning up to get ready for everyone coming over for Thanksgiving. Tina picked up a few Lotto tickets they had on their bedroom nightstand. She and her husband took a break from cleaning and went to the Lottery website to check the tickets before they threw them away. That's when they noticed one Lotto ticket matched all of the numbers listed.

"After realizing their good fortune, Harold began counting down the days from the drawing, realizing there was a deadline to claim the prize. 'I kept waiting for something to go wrong,' Harold recalled.
The Ehrenbergs claimed their prize just in time, as the giant jackpot-winning ticket was set to expire only two weeks later. Prizes for draw-style games must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing in which the prize was won."
The Ehrenbergs received $1,274,313 after state and federal tax withholdings, which they plan to put away for retirement.
Clearly, they've got a LOT o be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
